  2. Add the hibiscus flowers, cover and steep for 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers

  • 1 inch ginger root, sliced

  • 2 Tbsp lime juice

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • Orange slices

Directions

  • Pour four cups of the water into a small pot along with the sugar, cinnamon stick and ginger root. Bring to a boil over medium high heat and stir to dissolve the sugar.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and add the dried hibiscus flowers. Cover the pot and let the flowers steep in the hot water for 20 minutes.
  • Pour the hibiscus mix through a fine mesh sieve and into a pitcher.
  • Add the remaining water and lime juice to the pitcher and stir.
  • Chill the agua de Jamaica and enjoy over ice with a slice of orange.
